Anna Thomasson

Anna has been a consistent advocate for low-density development and preserving our quiet, rural lifestyle.

Anna has been vocal about her concern for intense development of the SmokeTree Resort and actively followed the project through numerous Planning Commission meetings.

During the General Plan update, Anna worked closely with resident groups to make sure their voices were heard and our General Plan reflected current concerns, including the land use designation within El Chorro.

While Anna’s personal passion leans toward less development and density, she also believes in due process for all applicants and has a great deal of respect for our appointed Planning Commission members who work diligently to ensure that all viewpoints are heard and property owner rights are honored.

As past chair of the ACOPS committee on public safety, Anna is still in regular communication with Chief Freeman Carney, a regular attendee at “Coffee with a Cop,” successfully testified to retain our photo radar on numerous occasions, developed a series of public safety articles in the Independent, and has joined on three police ride-alongs.

In addition, Anna worked closely with the mayor and council to reduce the negative impact from short-term rentals by attending legislative hearings and supporting our citizen group to pass legislation returning more control to cities and towns.

Anna is also known as a militant fiscal conservative, frequently seeking more information on spending, serving on the Investment Advisory Working Group, and being a lone no vote on out-of-scope spending for a minor town hall remodel.
